The acoustic session at the Falcon Hotel in Bromyard now runs every Tuesday from 8.30 till about 11.30. Sylvia lays on nibbles for all and you can get a very nice pint of Wye Valley Bitter or Brain’s Reverend James. There is also Robinson’s Cider and a recent addition is Glyn’s perry from Thornbury from a barrel on the bar.
This session has gone from strength to strength over the past year and we decided a few weeks back to make it a weekly event. Lots of people commented “I meant to come but couldn’t remember which Tuesday it was on!”. So we’ve solved that issue once and for all.
We get a wide range of performers and although all acoustic music we get a wide variety of styles. Traditional English Folk, Irish tunes, Cajun, Bluegrass, Contemporary Folk, 60′s music, anything provided it’s acoustic. We perform in a sing around format and share the load pretty democratically. If you’re a newcomer and just want to busk along and/or do the odd solo number just say so.
We are going to introduce one night a month (maybe more in time) where we run more of a folk club format where one of our more experienced regulars will do a longer set at the end of the evening and the rest having 2 or 3 song floor spots earlier on. This is partly to give variety but also to give more experience in performance to those who want it.
We get very nice audiences to the session who generally listen rather than chatter and many a guest at the hotel has found that Bromyard offers more than they had expected.
