A Hot Day In August

Sunday 1st August 11am – 5pm in aid of St. Michaels Hospice, Moors Meadow Gardens & Nursery will again be hosting this event with live Acoustic Music, Blacksmith Demonstrations, Refreshments and Stalls.

We have had so many requests by visitors to our previous events and from people who missed these great days that we decided it was time to hold our 5th “A Hot Day in August”, known to some as “Ros-stock”. The entrance is only £4 for adults, children 4 – 16 years £1 for a whole day of entertainment, just 4 miles North of Bromyard on B4214, Tenbury Road. Guide dogs only.

Moors Meadow is an inspirational garden with international recognition with recent features in local and national papers and magazines as well as overseas, also on local radio. In May the garden and gardeners could be seen on BBC TV Gardeners World, it has also been voted “Most Romantic Garden” in Central England. It is a most remarkable 7-acres brimming with plants and with many intriguing features and sculptures.

The Moors Meadow resident Artist Blacksmiths will astound you with their craftsmanship and creativity, Joshua De Lisle has won several awards and now has a commission for a set of gates for Richmond Park. Jo Williams won top student in the National Diploma of Blacksmithing in her final year at college and excels with her creations of movement and form in her sculptures. A unique demonstration piece will be auctioned during the afternoon.

There will be many talented local musicians and the entertainment will begin with Tony Burt and a tantalizing taste of his huge repertoire of songs.

Other musicians will include the sultry sounds of broadcaster and entertainer Nonny James, the dulcet tones of the folkish Foxtail Soup, the good ole Cajun tunes of Les ‘Ot Potatoes. There will be Ian “Blues Boy” Jackson, the well known and much loved sound of Pete and Stevie Geoghegan, the Ramshackle Bluegrass Band which I think will be playing some ramshackle bluegrass, SamMatt playing som’at, the irrepressible Dave Haigh and the hilarious wordsmith Everton Ken. To bring the event to a close will be Bromyard Sessions with a medley of musicians playing a medley of music.

The Bromyard and District St. Michaels Hospice Support Group will be serving scrumptious refreshments throughout the day whether you require a lovely lunch or just coffee and delicious homemade cakes.

You will also have the opportunity to browse book and knick-knack stalls, purchase preserves and other homemade delicacies, and, for the 1st time, beautiful greeting cards of Moors Meadow Gardens as well as test your brain with a plant quiz, the prize being a £25 garden centre voucher.

Everyone is giving their time and talent freely and the items have been generously donated, all proceeds will go to St. Michaels Hospice who need our support now to help support us in our times of need.
