Just back from a fun-packed long weekend in the Lake District to celebrate my brother-in-law’s 60th.
Spent Sunday mooching around the Western Lakes and finished up in Wasdale at the moment stomachs started to rumble. Ended up at the Screes in Nether Wasdale for a fine Sunday roast and, remembering some sessions I enjoyed here in the nineties, asked the gaffer if they still had a session. To which he replied that “they’ll be here in 10 minutes”.
So ordered another pint, settled down and enjoyed a largely tunes-led session from a good dozen local musicians. Very enjoyable afternoon, fuelled by copious quantities of Robinson’s Double Hop and even managed to inflict a couple of songs on these good people.
If you are heading for Cumbria and looking for a session then you’ll maybe find out what’s happening from the Feonix website – www.feonixmusic.co.uk.
Thanks to Kerry and her colleagues for a warm welcome and some tasty music. hope to see you again soon.
