Folk art includes many arts and skills and Herefordshire is well served by a large number of folk artists and performers. As well as music, which is the main interest of the Bromyard Sessions website, we carry information on folk dance, including ceilidhs, Morris teams and other dance traditions such as rapper, clog, Appalachian and more. Folk plays, such as Mummers plays, feature especially on ceremonial days, like Boxing Day, and wassailing is increasingly popular in our orchards during December and even more so in January.

Many of our crafts people are involved in what would often be described as folk arts – blacksmiths, potters, basket makers and clothing makers. This part of the world is blessed with a broad and fascinating range of “folk” activities, whatever the term means to each individual.
